But what if I don’t have a record player?

All Decoration Day releases come with a free digital download of the entire album.  These are high-quality DRM-free 320kbps mp3s.  If you bought the album on iTunes, it’d cost you 99 cents a song.  So for just a few bucks more, why not get those songs and the beautiful album artwork?  Consider it a down payment on enjoyment once you do pony up the money for a record player.  We know the easiest way to listen and enjoy music on-the-go is with your iPod, so we want to help make it easier for those who are a little wary of buying vinyl.  So, what are you waiting for?

The records are pressed on 180 gram vinyl and will be available in both black and clear.  And, of course, each album comes with a coupon for a full mp3 digital download of the album.

We’re working to get a proper record release show set up for February, so we can celebrate properly.  It’s a busy week ahead!  Stay tuned!

We’re very excited to share that the new SEAS record is off at the pressing plant being produced as we speak.  It’s been a labor of love and we can’t wait to see everything when it’s all done.  We’re still looking at a January release date for the album and once we have more specific details, we’ll share them with you here on the site.

In the meantime, I’m excited to share with you a preview of the album cover for “Now My Home Is A Beech Tree”, the new album from SEAS.  The artwork was a collaboration between two D.C.-based artists, Nilay Lawson and Marissa Long.  Nilay does work for Pandahead Mag and can be e-mailed at nilaylawson@gmail.com for your next creative design project.  Marissa’s website is about to be finished and can be found here.  The cover is just a small part of the album artwork, so look for us to unveil more artwork as we get closer to the release date.

SEAS has been hard at work putting the finishing touches on the record.  The good news is that we just got the masters back and they sound great.  We’re now about to finish the artwork and begin the pressing process.

The bad news is that things took a little longer to finish up than we’d anticipated, so the record won’t actually be available for purchase until January.

It’s a slight setback, but we’re not really worried about it.  We want everything to be perfect and we think it’s worth the small wait.

For those in Virginia, SEAS will be playing a free show on Monday, October 19th at Stronghill in Richmond.  Rumor has it that they’ll be playing the entire new album, so be sure to check it out!  Details are in the tourdates section.

It’s been several months in the making, but we are happy to finally be able to announce our first signing, Washington D.C. band SEAS.  Decoration Day Recordings will be releasing the debut album, Now My Home Is A Beech Tree, in the fall.

SEAS is music performed and recorded by core member Ben Green.  The project began in 2006 as a collection of quiet, simple guitar-driven instrumental pieces, and has since evolved into the vocally-driven embodiment active today.  Green was a founding member of the now-retired, DC melodic hardcore group Fairweather, and while changing styles dramatically, some of the organic elements of their later work are vaguely present in these songs.  Additionally, SEAS draws much aesthetic inspiration from John Fahey’s co-opting of Takoma Park, MD.  This record nods artistically to Fahey, while its careful layering of instrumentation and imagery constructs an atmosphere more lush and warm.

We’ve been having conversations and getting things in order.  We should be announcing our first signing next week.  This weekend we’ll be busy hatching plans and schemes.
