Welcome to the internet home of Decoration Day Recordings.  We are an independent record label from Richmond, VA.

As you can tell by the lack of content, we’re just getting things started over here, but we’re very excited to share our upcoming plans in the weeks to come.  We will be announcing our first artist shortly.

We thought Memorial Day would be a fitting day to kick things off, as it was originally known as Decoration Day following the Civil War.  It was a day for veterans to be remembered and flowers to be laid at the graves of those who died.

Why another record label?  As you know, the landscape of the music industry is changing by the minute and no one’s quite sure where things are going to end up.  Normally, this would be a scary time to start a new venture, but we think it’s the perfect time to operate on a small independent basis and be on the ground level of whatever happens next.

That said, Decoration Day Recordings will be focused entirely on vinyl-only releases paired with digital downloads.  We know the feeling of holding a new record in your hands and pouring over liner notes and artwork, but we also know that if you can’t put it on your iPod immediately, what’s the point?  So we’re going to try to give you both.

We have big things planned and we’d like to thank you for checking us out.  Our first artist will be announced shortly and we’re very excited to be working with such great talent to kick things off.
