The fine gentlemen of SEAS are hitting the road to play several shows in the month of June. They’re joining two Virginia bands Long Division and Autocue for a string of dates.
They’ll be playing a home show in Washington DC, along with two Virginia dates in Richmond and Norfolk.
If you haven’t yet had a chance to see SEAS live, they’re well worth checking out.
See you at the shows!
Meanwhile back at home base, things have been a little quiet. We plan to rectify that soon and keep you posted a little more often. Stay tuned and hope you’re enjoying the hot summer months.
Last month, SEAS traveled down to Richmond to play the Live At Ipanema music series. The performance was recorded and photographed by the fine folks at RVANews.com.
You can listen to the entire performance and view photos by clicking right here.
With the exception of a beautiful Sparklehorse cover, all the songs played that night are on the new SEAS album. If you haven’t picked up the new record, head over to the online store and get a copy!
We have the best job in the world. Our bands make awesome music and we get to share it with all of you. That’s a win-win.
A few weeks ago, SEAS recorded a cover of a song from the band Blue Nile called “The Downtown Lights”. If you’ve heard the original, you’ll know that the SEAS version is a really beautiful new take on the song.
Not only do we get to share it with you, but we’re giving you the mp3 – for free!
Speaking of free mp3s, the new SEAS album comes with a free digital download of the entire record, so go pick it up if you haven’t yet.
We wanted to take some time to tell you about two recent SEAS interviews that you might want to check out.
Ben recently spoke with the University of Maryland’s student newspaper The Diamondback about the new album and his upcoming show at the Black Cat. You can read the article here.
Ben also spoke with local DC music site District of Sound to discuss the making of the record, his musical background and what to expect at a SEAS show. You can read the Q&A session here.
All this DC-area press is, of course, related to the upcoming SEAS show on Thursday, March 4th at the Black Cat with Blood Feathers and the Tough Shits. Don’t miss this great lineup!
If you can’t make the show, you can still pick up a record at the online store.
A few weeks ago, we sat down with a writer from Richmond.com to talk about the record label, our goals for the future, and about the new SEAS album. The article got posted today, so click here to check it out!
We’ve been a little buried under snow here the past few weeks, but we have been hard at work. If you haven’t had a chance to pick up the SEAS record, head on over to the store and pick it up!
Decoration Day and SEAS had a full-page feature in this week’s issue of BRICK, a local Richmond entertainment magazine. The article talks about the new SEAS album along with a Q&A session about the label. The new issue of BRICK hit newsstands today. The article is only in the print-version, so if you live in the Richmond area, pick up a copy. It’s free!
We’re happy to report that the new SEAS album is now available for purchase! The album is pressed on 180 gram vinyl and is available in both black and clear.

The record is also available in several stores on the east coast. See the list below:

All stores have limited quantities, so if they are out of records, please contact us at info [at] decorationdayrecordings.com so we can supply them with more!
But what if I don’t have a record player?
All Decoration Day releases come with a free digital download of the entire album. These are high-quality DRM-free 320kbps mp3s. If you bought the album on iTunes, it’d cost you 99 cents a song. So for just a few bucks more, why not get those songs and the beautiful album artwork? Consider it a down payment on enjoyment once you do pony up the money for a record player. We know the easiest way to listen and enjoy music on-the-go is with your iPod, so we want to help make it easier for those who are a little wary of buying vinyl. So, what are you waiting for?
Listen to a preview of the album track “Valley of the Fevers”:
We’re very excited to finally announce the release date of the debut album from SEAS. It’s been a long time coming, but we’re very excited to finally share this album with you all. On 1/19, a store link will go live on the site and you’ll be able to order the album right here on our website. The album will also be available at several retailers in the mid-Atlantic, most notably in Richmond, Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia. We’ll have a list of stores up here on our site for those of you who like to do your record shopping in person.
The records are pressed on 180 gram vinyl and will be available in both black and clear. And, of course, each album comes with a coupon for a full mp3 digital download of the album.
We’re working to get a proper record release show set up for February, so we can celebrate properly. It’s a busy week ahead! Stay tuned!
We’re very excited to share that the new SEAS record is off at the pressing plant being produced as we speak. It’s been a labor of love and we can’t wait to see everything when it’s all done. We’re still looking at a January release date for the album and once we have more specific details, we’ll share them with you here on the site.
In the meantime, I’m excited to share with you a preview of the album cover for “Now My Home Is A Beech Tree”, the new album from SEAS. The artwork was a collaboration between two D.C.-based artists, Nilay Lawson and Marissa Long. Nilay does work for Pandahead Mag and can be e-mailed at nilaylawson@gmail.com for your next creative design project. Marissa’s website is about to be finished and can be found here. The cover is just a small part of the album artwork, so look for us to unveil more artwork as we get closer to the release date.
Check back soon for more updates!
